Happy Holidays?

It’s that time of year again. Yes, the HOLIDAYS are upon us. For some that means cheer, tradition, good eats , twinkling lights, or maybe stressful fights?

Surprising or not, many people experience stress, anxiety and overall holiday blues.  Actually 88% of Americans feel the holiday season is the most stressful time of year.  Cheer up—the holiday blues are, generally, temporary, lasting from November to January. But they are real and can be debilitating, so the best thing to do is prepare yourself.

According to the American Psychological Association study respondents, said they feel these things during the holiday season:

  • 59%  feel nervous or sad during the holidays

  • 55% lack motivation & energy

  • 51% feel fatigue

Sound familiar? And for people that experience anxiety or depression, the season can also trigger depression, negative emotions and cause them to retreat from celebrations with friends and family.

So what to do? In the weeks leading up to the holidays, think about how you can prepare yourself. Get ready, they will be on us before you know it.

Have a look at these simple tips on how to cope.

Also take a few minutes in the morning (with a little Moodify Oatmeal wink;) to focus on your positive thoughts and set realistic expectations for the season.  Also, give yourself and others kindness. It is truly the best gift and it’s free!
